Situated at a crossroads for a while now, the book industry is witnessing something rather extraordinary. Not only is the book changing its format but we are also seeing an increasing mixturing of content being produced, packaged, sold and consumed by a generation that has exposure to various forms of media.

New players are entering the market and through cross-fertilisation are creating new and more innovative products. This has forced existing businesses to not just rethink their strategies to increase sales but also come up with fresh, creative ideas on what to produce and how to incorporate new types of content. In this context, the internet is offering a larger participatory role for the consumer like no other medium ever has.

Last year, GLOBALOCAL 2010 looked at how English language markets were negotiating issues of territory and grappling with the advent of new technologies. This year we present a two-day event that comes to you in a new format that includes presentations, panels and workshops geared towards bringing the industry in contact with other players who share the market and, through that, to forge liaisons.
